Clinical judgment

Next Generation NCLEX

The NGN measures clinical judgment: safe decisions in realistic, changing situations. It is threaded through every module and consolidated before the exam. The Clinical Judgment Measurement Model covers six skills.

SkillWhat the learner practises
1. Recognise cuesIdentify the relevant, important information in a scenario.
2. Analyse cuesLink cues to the client's condition and interpret them.
3. Prioritise hypothesesRank the client's problems by urgency and risk.
4. Generate solutionsIdentify expected outcomes and the actions to reach them.
5. Take actionsImplement the right interventions in the right order.
6. Evaluate outcomesJudge whether the client is improving and adjust the plan.

Every NGN item type, practised: unfolding case studies · bowtie · trend · extended multiple response · extended drag-and-drop · cloze (drop-down) · highlight (text & table) · matrix / grid.

Many NGN items use partial-credit scoring. Learners are coached on how partial credit works and how to maximise marks on complex, multi-part items.

The PPM toolkit

Personalised Performance Monitoring (PPM)

PPM turns practice and attendance into a clear, milestone-based pathway. Learners only get the green light to book once predictive performance sits in the passing range.

Study Plan & Timetable: a personalised weekly plan, adjusted as the learner progresses.

Practice Diary: a daily log of study, questions attempted and reflection.

Question-bank analytics: accuracy tracked by content area and NGN skill to expose weak spots.

Milestone readiness checks: structured reviews at the end of each phase.

Predictive readiness exams: full-length practice exams that estimate pass probability.
